Texturing Lesson Pt 1 - Setting Up Lights and Cameras

Returning back into class for the first term, the following few lessons will be focused will on texturing, building up to using Substance Painter.

To start the lesson, We had a full recap on texturing, poly modeling habits and color correcting, which was highly useful as I felt I had forgotten a large portion of it.

Working on a modeled book scene (provided by our tutor), the first step will be setting up the cameras for rendering. creating two shot cameras, we want to gain the maximum rendering view by placing one at opposite angles to the book.

For the lights, we will be using 3 aiAreaLights for arnold rendering. we use a aim constraint to pair them to a locator, which is placed onto the books surface. Doing this mean that when the lights are moved, they will always point where the locator is positioned.  Once happy with the Key Light, we then duplicated it (with special) 2 more times and reposition them, one as a Fill light and the last as a Rim light.

Finally,  its was a case of tweaking the Exposure and sampling to gain the desired effect. With this done, the scene is now ready for the next step.

Progress so far
