Premise - Developing Ideas Pt 1

The main idea behind my premise pitch was what makes "odd phenomena" happens around the house. As a proposal, it is aimed creature design development, whilst gaining a better understanding of rigging and modelling. This can be seen as a "other" style project where the focus is more on the modelling/rigging/design rather than a full animation. However, a small amount of animation will be includes, which may be the creatures moving.

In discussions with my tutor, Alan, we spoke about if they are going to be transmedia or more fantastical. Depending on the decision will influence how the creatures are designed. Personally, I would like them to be more fantastical, however they need to be effective but simple.

So to help with the designs I have come up with some strange occurrences:

·  Creaking floorboards at night.

·       Pipes rattling.

·       Socks disappearing from the tumble dryer.

·       Dust appearing after cleaning.

·       Tape appearing on clothes.

·       The toilet roll always empty.

·       Shower water turning cold.

·       Power cuts for a split second.

·       Things falling out of cupboards/ freezer.

·       The keys are never where you last leave them.

·       All the dogs barking in the street.

·

Al    So as to not get too overwhelmed by time, I will concentrate on 4 ideas and then expand if needed.

In     Terms of style, research as led to a few of my favourite artists/ designers: Goro Fujita and Shihab aldeen.

In terms of the creatures themselves, I need to think about why they do what they do and maybe incorporate personifications. As I am in just the planning stage, I have chosen only four of the occurrences and done some quick sketches.

Sock Stealer/ Eater Designs

At present, I have two sets of concept designs and I'm hoping to develop more for the last two shortly.
