Invisible Cities Thumbnails 2

The second and third set of  thumbnails in the invisible cities series - Leonia and Thekla. I decided to change the style of the thumbnails, this is so to capture ideas quicker and try to keep the details as clean as possible.

More rounded to show a cleaner more futuristic effect.

A construction like appearance.

Invisible Cities Thumbnails 1

Following the project brief of Invisible cities, one of the tasks is to create thumbails of each city presented with our own imagery. After reading the inserts, Zenobia was the one first tempted. As having not done thumbnails before, this turned out to be quite challening. I wanted to keep them quick, but hold enough detail to work with if needed at a later date. This piece had taken longer then desired, so timing is a area to work on. I tried to keep the appearace of bamboo and zinc in the buidings as much as possible. This is the first set of thumbnails in the Invisible Cities set - Zenobia.

Maya Practise - Lego

Before recieving the brief for the upcoming project, Invisible Cities, I had take then time to do a little experimenting on Maya. Following a tutorial posted by our tutor Alan on ToolKit, my progress thus far has brought me to creating 4 different lego bricks. These took me a while to make as Maya is so very new to me, but with more perseverance, hopefully it will become easier.

Hello! and welcome to my blog

Having nearly completed the introduction week of the Computer Animation Arts degree, its been a roller coaster of emotions, but mainly excitement to get started. Normally, I work in traditional mediums (such as graphite and watercolours). Digital art is still quite new to me, so this will be fun to see how the skills I have transfer. I spend a lot of time sketching and creating creatures, having the chance bring these to life is like living the dream.

Below is the last portrait I had completed in the time off between courses, but the last few months have mainly been recovering from the completing the FE course. However, I have been working on following some tutorials in digital painting in Photoshop,  experimenting in Maya and watching animations/ playing games.

Thank you for visiting!! I will keep posting plenty over my time here to show how my work progresses and changes.

Portrait study in progress - A picture I found that I really liked on google images. (Done using grids, 4B, 6B, 8B and 9B graphite pencils)

Portrait study completed - Not exactly the same but was fun to do.
