Fantastic Voyage - Influence Maps

In thinking about style for my mitosis story, I want to try an experiment with the paper cut out/ silhouette style. In terms of colour, keeping it simple to two or three will give the most effectiveness. I want to stay away from the darker, grittier appeal, and use a more pastel or bold aethstetic. This blocking in colour will allow the textures to add more the style. There are also some thoughts about adding luminosity, but again this will come with experimentation (trial and error).

In the form of Genre, this pop-out texturing can be applied to many narratives. The next step is to figure out how to correctly tell the Mitosis narrative and think about the best camera angles to captivate the audience, then move into thumbnails/concepts.

For the paper cut out forms, I  looked into artists such as Brittney Lee, Alx Factory, Roman Laney and Morgana Wallace. The band Fleet Foxes also have a distinctive cut out style for their video, "The Shrine" which has help in creating ideas.

The graphic silhouettes style can depend heavily of darker hues such as black and greys. This give that striking appeal and incorporating textures makes them very eye-catching. These were created by Olly Moss, Saul Bass, Ollie Boyd, Ken Taylor and Mark Welser.
