Maya Lesson - Head and Neck Rigging

Continuing on whit eh basic rig, we are setting the head an neck today. Firstly, we created 3 new joints, spaced them out then then parented them downwards.

Adding the new joints
Lower Jaw Joint
After this we added two new joints below the second to act as a lower jaw, then parented this to the second joint. Once renamed correctly, we added a attribute to this new joint called "Lower Jaw OC", the OC means open and close.

Adding the Eyes.

Next, we place a new joint for the eye, we set this slightly off center at -0.5 in the translate Y, parented to the main joint and used the mirror joint option to created a exact double in 0.5. Creating a new control using the CV curve tool, we created a arrow and snapped the pivot to the required joint. Using duplicate, and snapping upwards, we re shifted the pivot to the next joint upwards. Finally, we used the contain point and orient to give the controls the movement required.
Final Controls
Now this is completed, we place them all in a group and give it a overall control using a NURB circle. A point made is to to make sure the group has DO NOT TOUCH, this stops people playing with the rig.
