Animation Practise - Anticipation Ball Throw

During animtion class today, we had to create anticipation by throwing a ball. We didn't have a real ball, but  by using our imaginations and a stopwatch, we would determine the time (keyframes) needed.  The first GIF is to be ball having no power though the throw, so its quite lack lustre. For the second, we had to think about pauses, and the arc for how the ball will travel. However, we have to also need to think about how the body moves. My drawings are kind of scratchy, but in animate I feel this is the best way to catch the motion.

Gentle Throw

The gentle ball throw includes bending at the knees, bringing the showers forward, the hips back and the arms back in a low arc, the low velocity mean the ball wont travel far.

First High Arc Ball

For the higher arc throw, the individual would have to step back, stop for a few seconds so the muscles build tension. As the arm throws, the ball will gain enough force to be propelled forward much further and faster. In the first version, the ball isn't moving faster enough, so another was made with more impact. For the step back, there would be a twist in the hips, and the arm would slightly trail behind the forward push of the shoulders.
