I have decided to move onto modelling the "Sock-Stealer", starting with the head. To help with starting the model, I made a quick colour plan of the topology and a animal mood board that has similar facial structures to what I wanted.
I was quite nervous about starting this as organic modelling can provide quite a challenge, but once the head shape started to become clearer, I felt less anxious. There is quite a distinction between the model and my orthographs, this is mainly due to some structural inconsistency's and having to think a bit deeper about bone structure.
Currently this is the process, one major change is the adding of the jowls. Looking deeper at the animal facial structures, it's apparent that an underbite is accompanied with jowls so I decided to add some small ones. These also seems to a little more character to the face. In terms of the snout, there still need to be a little work to add that defined dip to show the material rolls.
To help with the modelling, I have been referring back to the JPJ tutorials. Although JPJ is a humanoid character, the fundamentals for good topology from these tutorials can be used across all creatures.
