Maya Class 01 - Capturing Day/Night Lighting

Today's lesson was focused on how to achieve lighting via different times of the day. In order to correctly do this, we needed to make sure we have the correct references. Creating a mood board will give us a guide in order to achieve the outcomes we want. The below renders was made with a ramp connected to the colour channel of a aiSkyDome, area lights, a few point lights and by utilising the light-linking system.

Using the object-centric option in the light linking system means we have more control over how light can affect our scene and the objects/characters in them.

Daytime

Nighttime

Originally, I had 3 renders: Midday, Dusk (Golden hour) and Night. However, it seems that the save for the Duisk scene has disappeared. If I manage to find it at a later date, I will then upload it.
