Collaboration - Video Store Skit, Script, Storyboard and First Animatic

  Following group discussions, our animation is now moving towards a CCTV comedy based style. This is idea was brought forward by Jasmine and influences has come from shows such a "You Been Framed". The CCTV bases works perfectly with the Tripod camera style, and can allows for multiple cameras to capture what is happening in the scene.

The incorporation of the CCTV cameras led us to our animation's name:

  Decisions was also made on what will happen in each job,leading to poor Moom getting fired and moving onto the next. The original idea for the Video Store is as below:

I was completely satisfied with scene outline and after watching some "You Been Famed" episodes, I made some changes to the provisional script and storyboards. Below is the final skit outcome, script and storyboard:

Moom’s Video Store Summer Job

 

*Seen thought CCTV and Store Display Cameras”

Moom is putting returned videos away on shelves, hears the store bell and hides behind a display. He is seen to peek out nervously after a few seconds, looks around, realises no-one is there and notices the video players had stopped. Wonders over the players and starts pressing loads of buttons (Does not understand how they work). Walks away, looks at the 3D display and decides to put a pair of glasses on. Moom becomes scared, turns around and see more displays, becoming more anxious. In the background, video players are spilling out tape and frizzing!

Moom take off the glasses, breathing heavy and hears a noise. Looks round and sees the reels of tape flowing out of the video players. Runs over and continues to press more buttons. The video players start shaking! Moom is getting caught up in the tape around his feet, ducks to try and get out but the tapes fly out of the players towards a large heavy sign in the ceiling. Tapes knocks it and gets hooked in the sign, causing it to swing down one side first, breaking the chains and falling. Smashing to the shelves below, a domino effect happens around the store shelves, knocking videos and displays everywhere. Meanwhile, Moom flies into the air by the tape wrapped around his feet, and as the store falls apart around him, is suspended in the air and can only watch.

Store manager hears the noise and come running into the shop to chaos, sees Moom nervous in the air and fires him.

Video Shop Outline and Camera Placements 

  Creating the shop on a visual bases allowed a better planning for the sequence to unfold, and understanding of space. 

  With the completed storyboards and script, an animatic was made ready to be composited with the others in Premiere/ After Effects.
