Following a tutorial, we was able to use a motion curve to make our rocket fly. We also placed a secondary animation so to stop the flying seem so linear.
MEL Scripting
In the case of creating motion for our Robot, we used the expression editor on the required channel to get the right movement. Firstly we worked on the arms, then though the body, increasing the numbers required when needed.

Finally, we programed the Robot to move in Translate Z towards the camera, whilst his head, arms, body and properaller are all turning.
